3 held for obscene video circulation

Chhendipada: Police Friday arrested three youths, the administrators of a WhatsApp group, for allegedly circulating an obscene video clip of a married woman on social media platform here in Angul district.

The victim was in distress after the video was uploaded in the group with several youths of the area being its member.

According to the police, one of the administrators posted the video in the group and others circulated the clip with their other contacts.

Police registered a case and arrested the trio while raids were on to nab other members, who were allegedly involved in the incident.

The video was shot when the victim was in a relationship before her marriage. The man circulated the clip of their private moments to take revenge after the woman married someone else.

Circulation of objectionable pictures and video clips on social media refuses to come down despite a police advisory.

It may be recalled that a group of youths harassed a girl student and her male friend in Kendrapara district in June.

They accosted the girl, a college student, at Pentha beach, where she had gone with her male friend, June 14. The group of youths misbehaved with them. They thrashed the boy and tore girl’s clothes when her friend resisted. They then took away their vehicle and mobile phones. The accused recorded the incident on their mobile phone and uploaded in social media.

A complaint in this regard was lodged by the victim at Rajnagar police station after the clip went viral.
