Aska/Koraput: A physically-challenged youth and two minor siblings drowned while bathing at different places in the state Monday.
Sanyasi Nahak, a physically-challenged youth drowned while bathing in a pond at Nuagaon village under Aska police limits in Ganjam district Sunday. According to sources, Nahak’s family members became apprehensive when he did not return home till late in the night.
Monday morning, his body was spotted floating in the pond. Locals fished out the body and took it to Aska sub-divisional hospital. Police have seized the body and sent it for post-mortem. A case of unnatural death has been registered in this connection.
In another tragic incident, two minor sisters drowned while taking bath in a canal in Audipara village under Lamtaput police station of Koraput district Monday. The deceased have been identified as Kabita Badanayak (10) and Tulasi Badanayak(8), daughters of Jenua Badanayak of the village.
According to sources, the siblings had gone to a nearby agriculture field with their parents for farm work, when they took a bath in a nearby canal and drowned. Villagers rescued and rushed the girls in a critical condition to a local hospital, where doctors pronounced them ‘brought dead’.
Lamptaput police sent the bodies for post-mortem and registered a case of unnatural death.
