Peshawar: Three security personnel were killed Saturday in an IED blast at a check post in Pakistan’s restive northwestern tribal region bordering Afghanistan, police said here Sunday. One person was injured in the blast and his condition is stated to be critical.
The explosives, which were planted close to the check post in Sheva tehsil of North Waziristan District, went off when the levies personnel reported for duty, eye witnesses said. They said that the immediately after the explosion body parts of those killed were strewn over a large area.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister KPK Mehmud Khan strongly condemned the blast, stating that the resolve of the government against terrorism cannot be suppressed through such acts of cowardice. He also told journalists that a hunt has been launched to nab the accused.
