Bhawanipatna: Three persons were killed and one severely injured when the motorcycle they were travelling on crashed into a roadside tree near Murlapadar village under Junagarh police limits in Kalahandi district Monday night. The deceased have been identified as Pintu Majhi and Sadanand Majhi of Mariabandhli village, and Raju Bagarti, a resident of Chancharabhadi village while the injured undergoing treatment is Mukesh Majhi of Jharbandh village.
Eyewitnesses said, the four were travelling on a motorcycle from Jharbandh to Junagarh. As they were nearing Murlapadar village, the driver of the two-wheeler lost his control, leading to the mishap. It should be stated that two of the four were riding pillion illegally.
The four were rescued by locals and rushed to Junagarh community health centre (CHC). However, doctors at the health centre pronounced Pintu, Sadanand and Raju dead on arrival.
As the news broke of the tragedy, a pall of gloom descended on the villages of those deceased.
