Kendrapara: In Pattamundai block a fire victim, who got a Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana (BPGY) house sanctioned and is yet to construct the house although he got the work order in 2013, found that the first instalment of fund has been deposited in the bank account of another person due to the callous attitude of block officials.
Although he had knocked on the doors of the Pattamundai BDO umpteen times he has not yet got justice. As a result, he has been staying with his family in a thatched house with a polythene cover as roof.
The thatched house of Chittaranjan Sahoo, a resident of Sansarfal village in Pattamundai block, was gutted accidentally November 7, 2013. The fire services personnel of Pattamundai had gone to the spot and doused the fire.
The Pattamundai tehsildar had provided Rs 15,000 as grant and Rs 1,300 for clothing and Rs 1,400 for buying utensils January 24, 2014.
Later, Chittaranjan applied for a BPGY house in Sansarfal panchayat. The Panchayat Samiti provided a work order bearing the No: 845 dated 11/12/15. He received Rs 20,000 along with the work order from the Pattamundai block office.
But the Pattamundai block authority deposited the BPGY first instalment of Chittaranjan in the account of another person at SBI’s Pattamundai branch.
“I had provided my SBI bank account (A/C-11304301649) to the block authority. But due to a mistake made by the block authority, the Rs 20,000 (the first instalment of BPGY) was deposited in A/C No: 11004301649 at the SBI. The BDO in his letter No: 1009 dated 29th March 2016 also informed the Branch Manager of SBI Pattamundai to transfer the money to my account. But it has not been transferred,” said Chittaranjan.
As he failed to get the first instalment he could not construct the house. “I have knocked on the doors of the BDO of Pattamundai and the Collector umpteen times. But I have not got the BPGY first instalment although three years have passed since I got the work order,” Sahoo said.
“Meanwhile, the block authority has been asking me to take the remaining instalments of BPGY, but I asked them to give my first instalment,” Sahoo added.
This reporter tried to contact the BDO on his telephone, but he did not respond.
Sub-collector of Kendrapara, Sanjay Kumar Mishra, said the matter had come to his notice and he would look into it.
