Mayurbhanj: At least 30 persons were injured after a private bus hit a sand-laden truck on the National Highway-220 under Karanjia police station in Mayurbhanj district, Friday morning. The condition of five of the injured passengers was critical.
The mishap took place when the bus hit a sand-laden truck moving ahead after it showed a wrong indicator while turning. As the bus was moving at high speed, the driver applied sudden breaks but lost control of the wheel. Subsequently, the bus crashed into the rear of the truck.
Those sitting in the front seats of the bus, which was carrying around 60 passengers from Mayurbhanj to Keonjhar, sustained critical injuries. The front portion of the bus was completely mangled in the accident.
Informed, Fire personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the injured. The injured have been admitted to the nearby Karanjia Primary Health Centre (PHC). The condition of the injured is said to be stable.
