Ghashipura/ Sonepur: As many as 35 picnickers including students sustained injuries in two separate incidents of road mishap in Keonjhar and Subarnapur districts, Thursday.
In the first incident, the mishap occurred after a bus carrying students and teachers for a picnic hit a truck from rear at Bhalukuma Square on National Highway-20 near Dhakotha under Ghashipura police limits in Keonjhar district. The mishap occurred after a truck allegedly applied brakes while overtaking one of the buses.
Over 60 students and teachers of Bramhoshmi Coaching Centre in Balasore district were returning in two buses after a picnic in Sambalpur. Among them, 20 were injured including two critically. Ghashipura police rushed the injured students and teachers to a hospital and launched an investigation.
In the second incident, 15 students and guardians were injured while three of them sustained critical injuries after a bus carrying them hit a stationery truck at Kadamtal Square on KhurdaBolangir National Highway-57 near Khamdeshwarpali.
The injured were rushed to the district headquarters hospital in Sonepur and 12 of them were discharged after primary treatment. The critically injured were shifted to VSS Institute of Medical Sciences and Research at Burla.
