Jeypore: Police arrested four Bihar youths on charges of smuggling ganja from Koraput district to Bihar Friday. Approximately a quintal of cannabis valued at approximately Rs 10 lakh were seized from their possession. The two cars they were travelling in with the contraband were also seized.
The police identified the arrested youths as Niranjan Yadav, Rabi Yadav, Raghubir Yadav and Sumit Kumar. All are aged between 20 and 25 years.
Their modus operandi had been to procure ganja from Koraput and then with the help of some local mechanics stash them away in car doors and bumpers. Then they used to travel to various cities of Bihar.
However, fortune did not smile on them this time. Acting on a tip-off, Lamtaput police waylaid two speeding cars on the outskirts of the town. After a thorough search of the vehicles, the cops found the contraband item concealed in doors and bumpers.
Further investigation is on to trace out their other accomplices in the locality.
