Bhubaneswar: Nayapalli police Tuesday arrested four persons along with a minor on charges of stealing valuables from the residence of a senior bureaucrat of the state August 22 night.
The accused were identified as Dinesh Kumar Gupta of Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh, Kartika Sethy, 19, of Soro in Balasore, Samir Kumar Pradhan, of Pradhan Sahi in Baramunda area here. The juvenile accused who is a resident of G Udayagiri in Kandhmal has been staying in Capital.
According to sources, the accused persons entered the house of the IAS officer Reghu G by breaking open the iron grille. They later decamped with two laptops, a wrist watch, and one silver coin from his house when he was away for some work. The juvenile, the prime accused in the case, allegedly hatched the burglary plan and later taking the help of his associates committed the crime.
Police were carrying out probe after registering a case (381/19) on the basis of the complaint lodged by Reghu August 23. Police arrested the accused along with the receiver of the booty. Police also seized two stolen laptops in a damaged condition from their possession.
The accused were sent to judicial custody after their bail pleas were rejected by court here.
