4 IITTM students suspended on ragging charge

Bhubaneswar: Authorities of Indian Institute of Tourism Travel Management, Bhubaneswar (IITTM) have suspended four students for 15 days and expelled them from the hostel for allegedly physically and mentally harassing a first year student.

A video of this has surfaced which shows Srinath Das, a first-year student of IITTM, being physically and mentally harassed by four of his batchmates.

The parents of Srinath from Howrah in West Bengal had filed a complaint with the Institute and Khandagiri police in this regard. They produced the video to corroborate their allegations.

Taking disciplinary action against the erring students, the authorities took the step, sources said.

They further said that an internal committee has been constituted to decide the future course of action, and prevent recurrence of such incidents in the campus. Meanwhile, the police have also started an investigation into this incident.
