Boudh: Police rescued four minor girl inmates of an ashram school from Semapayu under Boudh police limits here in the wee hours of Tuesday while they were fleeing the hostel over some reason.
During a probe, it was learnt that the girls were students of Bilabadi Sevashram School in Kandhamal district. Villagers spotted them moving around aimlessly and informed the police, who rescued them.
When confronted, the girl students alleged that they were regularly beaten up by their seniors. They were allegedly also made to wash utensils and clean clothes by their teachers. When they objected, they were mercilessly beaten up and threatened of dire consequences. The girls said adding that they were forced to flee the hostel as they could no longer bear the torture.
As they could not inform their parents, they decided to flee the hostel, said one of the students. The girls were subsequently handed over to the local police who launched a probe.
