Sambalpur: Four teachers of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla, in sambalpur district were suspended Monday, on charges of disrupting classes, boycotting evaluation of scripts and instigating faculty members to stage demonstration in front of the university by zeopardising academic discipline.
The four lecturers are also accused of provoking the faculty members to shout slogans against the authorities and defaming the university. With the suspension of the four, the total number of teachers suspended in VSSUT has gone up to seven.
Earlier, the university had terminated a teacher and suspended two others besides serving show-cause notice to 12 after they resorted to agitation demanding removal of Vice-Chancellor Atal Choudhry. They also launched a strike July 17.
Later, teacher Pusparaj Das, Managing Committee Secretary Pradeep Das and vice-secretary Pandab Patra were suspended from the university August 10.
The four who were suspended Monday are production department professor Dr Dhupal, computer application department assistant professor SK Majhi, assistant professor PK Pradhan and associate professor Sasmita Padhi.
Confirming the suspension, VSSUT registrar Upama Kalo said the order of disciplinary action has been issued by the Vice-Chancellor.
