Nayagarh: A four-year-old boy died after he fell into a septic tank in a bid to escape wall collapse at Jajangi Sahi of Nayagarh NAC Sunday morning.
The incident occurred while Saikrishna Patra, son of Pramod Patra, was playing near his house. Meanwhile, a portion of a wall of their house collapsed.
In a bid to escape, the boy ran away and accidentally fell into a newly –constructed septic tank. Due to the incessant rain, the five feet septic tank was filled with water and the boy could not cry for help. Family members rescued and rushed him to the district headquarters hospital where doctors declared him brought dead upon arrival.
In another incident, a 40-year-old woman Malati Nahak of Dusuma under Saranakul police limits in this district was rendered critical after a portion of her house’s wall collapsed on her. The woman was crushed under the debris and broke her leg. She also suffered serious injuries on her backbone.
Family members admitted her to the district headquarters hospital.
