Bhubaneswar: A 40-member team, led by Swami Dibyananda, will visit Pasupatinath temple in Nepal October 15 on invitation of the Pasupatinath Area Development Trust (PADT).
PADT member secretary Pradip Dhakal told the media here that the team will commence its journey from the Lion’s Gate of Srimandir by road and return to the Holy City October 24.
The team will comprise of servitors from the Jagannath temple in Puri, Sakhigopal temple in Pipli, Ladu Baba temple Nayagarh and devotees from Brundaban.
According to Dhakal, the yatra would be organised every year. Arrangements have been made to take the team members to holy shrines that would fall on the way to Pasupatinath temple.
Dhakal said that there is a link between Lord Jagannath temple at Puri and Nepal for generations and the purpose of the yatra is to strengthen the relation further and the bring the people of the two countries closer.
He said that Nepal used to provide Rudrakhya, Salagram and Chandan for Srimandir. The royal family of Nepal also provided Kasturi for the deities of Lord Jagannath temple till 1996.
