Bhubaneswar, July 26: The 30th State Taekwondo championship and third Poomsae championships concluded at Sahid Nagar Indoor Hall here Sunday. Forty-six players won gold in the sub-junior, junior and senior categories respectively.
The gold medal winners will now be eligible to participate in the national championships. The sub-junior nationals will be played at Ranchi, while Guwahati and Goa will host the junior and senior national championships respectively.
Jasmin Parida, who won silver medal last year in the national championships, emerged champion in the U-62 kg category. “This is my second gold in the state championships. Last year also I got gold, but this one is special as it will boost my confidence for the upcoming national meet,” stated Jasmin.
“Despite some difficulties, we were able to make this competition successful. I wish all the best to the players who are selected for the nationals,” Orissa Taekwondo Association secretary, Santosh Kumar Mohanty stated.
Bhubaneswar Mayor Anant Narayan Jena was present at the closing ceremony and distributed the prizes and certificates.

Sub-junior (Girls): Nayashadevi Parichha (U-22 kg), Madhusmita Mohanty (U-24), Chirashree Sagarika (U-26), Tanusree Mohanty (U-29), Archita Panda (U-32).
Sub-junior (Boys): Hemanta Debury (U-18), Sujan Parida (U-21), Ajit Behera (U-23), Dipakpati Nayak (U-25), Chandan Parida (U-27), Ranjit Thapa (U-29), Suraj Kumar Jena (U-32), Khiti Sahoo (U-35).
Junior (Girls): Jashobanti Mundari (U-42), Alisha Patnaik (U-44), Sonali Parida (U-46), Pragati Patra (U-49), Kumari Sangita Durga (U-52), Reshmarani Patra (U-55), Mamali Jena (U-59), Sandhya Tapno (U-63).
