Nabarangpur: Amid the spike in the coronavirus cases in Nabarangpur district, the administration has decided to enforce a two-day complete shutdown beginning midnight Monday. This information was given Monday by District Collector Ajit Kumar Mishra. He said the shutdown will continue till midnight of July 22.
Except for essential commodities like vegetable, grocery, milk and medicine shops for all other items will remain closed during the shutdown period. The shops that have been allowed to open will do so from 6.00am to 1.00pm.
The administration has also restricted movement of people and vehicles in the district during the shutdown period. However, those having emergency requirement can venture outside after taking permission from the concerned authorities.
During this 48-hour shutdown period the district administration will take measures like contract tracing, symptom checking to ensure isolation of suspected cases. All government (except the health department and other sections attached to it) and private institutions will remain closed during the shutdown period.
The total tally of COVID-19 patients the district stands at 157. Currently there are 29 active cases undergoing treatment at the hospital while 127 have recovered. One COVID-19 patient died due to other illness in the district.
