Cuttack, August 31: Police arrested a five-member gang in connection with robberies in Choudwar and its neighbourhood Sunday night.
A team of police headed by Choudwar Inspector Ajay Kumar Das arrested the five from different places and seized 35 grams of gold and jewelry, eight mobile phones and other values from them.
The robbery accused are identified as Chagala Pradhan, Manas Pradhan, Santosh Pradhan, Akash Pradhan and Yachindra Sahu. The five are from Matiakela community, DCP Sanjeev Arora told reporters Monday. The tracking of stolen mobile phones led to the arrest of the accused, police said, adding the booty was sold to Yachindra who resells the valuables in black market.
They basically robbed in the areas of Choudwar, Cuttack Sadar, Balianta, Salehpur, Gobindapur areas. They setup the plan by noticing the houses where the members are less and then they robbed at night Arora said.
The arrested gang members have been forwarded to the court for further proceedings, the DCP added.
