Balasore: Five persons were critically injured after the bus they were travelling in rammed into a truck near Begunia Chhak in Khantapada area of Balasore district late Thursday night.
The identities of the injured person have yet to be ascertained. They were immediately rushed to the Balasore district headquarters hospital (DHH) here. All of them are still senseless and undergoing treatment.
According to other passengers the bus was travelling from Kolkata to Bhubaneswar when the accident occurred. It had approximately 50 passengers. Close to the city of Balasore, the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit the rear side of a stationary truck.
The driver and helper of the bus fled the spot after the accident.
Khantapada police personnel reached the accident spot and rescued the injured persons from the bus. They were then hospitalised. An investigation is on to ascertain the cause of the accident.
