Berhampur: Police Monday cracked the murder mystery of a liquor shop salesman, Bijay Dakua at Jagadalpur village under Sadar police limits in Ganjam district who was found murdered in a forest and arrested five persons in this connection.
The accused have been identified as Pintu Das, Megha Das, Santosh Das of Jagadalpur village and Badal Das of Dudugapali village under Chhattrapur police limits.
They were produced in court and later remanded in judicial custody after the court rejected their bail pleas. The murder was fallout over loot of Rs 20,000, ASP Shantunu Das revealed before media persons at a press meet held at the SDPO’s office.
The police also seized Rs 15,000, a bamboo stick used to beat Bijay, plastic pipes and an iron rod from their possession.
According to sources, Bijay, as usual was returning home with the money after closing the liquor shop. Meanwhile, the five accused, in a pre-planned manner attacked him and beat him to death. Later, they fled with the money, the ASP said.
