Mumbai: A set of pictures of Ranbir Kapoor and Pakistani actor Mahira Khan surfaced online, featuring the two smoking together in New York. Since then, there have been rumours about their closeness.
But, Ranbir maintained a dignified silence and is currently dating Alia Bhatt. However, this is not the first time an Indian celebrity is linked with someone from Pakistan.

Salman Khan- Somy Ali: Salman Khan reportedly dated Somy, who hailed from Pakistan, after breaking-up with Sangeeta Bijlani in 1997. The two were reportedly in a serious relationship, but Salman fell in love with the-then emerging star, Aishwarya Rai.
Ashmit Patel-Veena Malik: Actress Amisha Patel’s brother Ashmit Patel grew close to Pakistani actor Veena Malik when the two were contestants on Season 4 of the reality show, Bigg Boss.
Sania Mirza- Shoaib Malik: Tennis ace Sania Mirza met Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik for the first time at a restaurant in Hobart, Australia in 2004. The very next day, Shoaib along with former fast bowler Waqar Younis went to watch her match where she found the ‘all-rounder’ Malik ‘very simple’ and ‘attractive.’ It was only after Mirza’s engagement with childhood friend Sohrab Mirza was called-off that the two decided to get married in 2010.
Imtiaz Ali-Iman Ali: Director Imtiaz Ali, had separated from his wife Preety in 2012. He soon grew close to Pakistani model and actor Iman Ali. The two broke up in 2014.
Reena Roy- Mohsin Khan: Actor Reena Roy got married to Pakistani cricketer Mohsin Khan in 1983. However, differences soon arose between the two. The two broke up in the early 90s.
