Khurda/Dharmagarh: As many as five persons have been killed in three separate road accidents in Khurda and Kalahandi districts late Saturday night.
In the first incident, two persons were killed after the motorcycle they were travelling in collided head-on with a Bolero vehicle at Dulukibandha Chowk in Dharmagarh of Kalahandi district.
While the bikers died on the spot, the other person sitting pillion died on the way to a hospital.
The deceased were identified as Padmanabha Rana of Bijamara village and Saisaurabh Panda of Badakutru village. The accident occurred when they were returning home after attending a function.
In another mishap, two people were killed when the car they were travelling in fell off a bridge after the driver lost balance on the wheels near Talakheta at Jatani of Khurda district.
According to reports, three persons were returning from Jatni after visiting Ganesh puja pandals. The accident happened when the driver lost control of the car while crossing a bridge near Talakheta.
The deceased were identified as Narendra Guru and Jitendra Nayak of Salia Sahi in Bhubaneswar. The driver fled the spot after the mishap.
In another incident, a person belonging to transgender community died after being hit by an unknown vehicle near Janla on NH-16 in Khurda district late Saturday night.
Police have seized the body and sent it for post-mortem.
