Bhadrak/Jajpur/Phulbani: As many as five persons were killed in separate incidents of road mishap in Bhadrak, Jajpur and Kandhamal districts of Odisha in the wee hours of Wednesday.
In the first incident, three motorcycle-borne youths were killed after being hit by a speeding truck near a local high school at Sabaranga Square in Bhadrak. While one youth died on the spot, two others died at a nearby hospital about an hour after undergoing treatment.
The deceased youths have been identified as Daitari Behera and Prakash Dalei from Eratala village under Basudevpur block and Dusashan Mohapatra of Chandigaon area in the district. The youths were on their way back from Dhamra when the fatal mishap took place.

In the second incident, a man was killed on the spot and two more sustained grievous injuries after a motorcycle and an auto-rickshaw carrying vegetables collided head-on near Kianali Square under Town police limits in Jajpur.
The deceased motorcyclist was identified as Ananta Nayak from Routraypur village near Gopali Square.
The two injured men identified as Pappu and Manas were rescued by locals and were rushed to Jajpur district headquarters hospital (DHH) in critical condition. Later, they were shifted to Cuttack SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) after their conditions deteriorated.
Meanwhile, the auto-rickshaw driver fled from the spot soon after the mishap.
In the third incident, an elderly man was killed after being hit by a speeding vehicle near Paburia locality in Baliguda of Kandhamal district, an eyewitness expressed.
Identity of the deceased man has not been ascertained yet, a police official informed.
Locals staged a road blockade demanding compensation following the road mishap. As a result, vehicular movements were disrupted on G Udayagiri, Tikabali, Raikia and Sarangada routes.
Local police have registered separate cases in connection with the three road mishaps and launched investigations.
