Bhubaneswar: In a sensational twist to Nayagarh minor girl Pari’s murder case, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Odisha Crime Branch Wednesday revealed that the minor girl was raped before being murdered.

The SIT team cops have submitted an affidavit in this regard Tuesday at the Orissa High Court.

The SIT team also mentioned in the affidavit that the prime accused has also been identified who is a resident of Jadupur village in Nayagarh district, the native place of the deceased.

The affidavit stated, “The motive of the murder is she (Pari) was raped. The investigation revealed that Pari was stripped naked before she was murdered. That she has been raped before being killed was confirmed from the samples collected from her clothes.”

In a sealed envelope the SIT team submitted the affidavit to the court. The Court scheduled the next hearing date to December 24 after accepting the affidavit.

The SIT team has been led by IPS Arun Bothra. The team started an investigation into the seasonal case December 2.

The SIT members had also held discussions with the district police who were investigating the case prior to that.

During the Winter Session of the Assembly, the parents of the minor girl Soudamini and Ashok Sahoo attempted self-immolation in front of the Assembly seeking justice for their minor daughter.

Notably, five-year-old Pari from Jadupur village in Nayagarh district was kidnapped July 14, 2020. Sources said, she was kidnapped from her house when she was playing in the courtyard of her house. Her skeletal remains were recovered from the backyard of her house nine days later.
