500-bed trauma centre to come up at SCBMCH

Bhubaneswar: The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) sources said Monday that a 500-bed trauma centre will be set up at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack to provide emergency advance care to accident victims.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved the establishment of the facility, which will come up under Central government’s Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Surakshya Yojana, they said.

“The Union government will bear 60 per cent of the construction cost, while the state government will provide the remaining 40 per cent,” they added.

The Chief Minister had written to Union Health Minister JP Nadda July 2 last year, requesting him for setting up of a trauma centre at SCB.

The Chief Minister’s approval came after a formal go-ahead from the Centre, sources added. “A detailed project report will be prepared now for the execution of the 500-bed proposed facility,” they pointed out.
