Bhatli: Police Monday detained six youths on the charge of allegedly killing a youth at Kharsal village in Bargarh district. The deceased was identified as Sudhakar Khamari (30).
The body was seized and sent for autopsy. The murder was fallout over a prevailing land dispute, preliminary investigation revealed.
Based on complaint by the victim’s brother, police registered a case of murder and started investigating into the matter. According to the complainant, Khamari had gone out to attend natures call. When he did not return home family members searched for him, but could not find him.
Later, Khamari’s brother spotted the body in a farmland and alerted the villagers who on the other hand informed the police. Tension ran high in the village for a while as angry villagers staged a road blockade by placing the body on the main road.
After getting information, SDPO Suresh Chandra Nayak, Ambabhona IIC Haribandhu Gadatiya and Bhatli IIC Nirod Kumar Das along with a platoon force reached the village and brought the situation under control.
The body has been seized and sent for autopsy.
