6-hour bandh hits normal life in Nuapada

Nuapada: Normal life was paralysed in Nuapada district following BJP’s six-hour bandh demanding payment of farmers’ crop insurance.

The bandh, which started at 7 am is scheduled to end at 1 pm. The streets and markets wore a deserted look. Government, private offices, shops and business establishments have downed their shutters.

The BJP activists resorted to picketing and staged blockade at different places including National Highway-353 by burning tyres, disrupting the movement of vehicles on the busy stretch for several hours.

However, schools, colleges and other educational institutions were exempted from the bandh.

BJP demanded that the crop insurance money due under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana since 2016-17 should be distributed immediately.
