6 injured in truck-bus collision

Khuntuni: Six people sustained injuries after the bus they were travelling in hit a truck near Durgabazar on National Highway 55 here head-on Friday morning. The injured were identified as truck driver Bidyadhar Mallick of Champia under Khuntuni police limits, Prafulla Tarinia of Rahania of Jagatsinghpur, Arindam Mohanty of Professor Para of Cuttack, Ugrasen Kandi of Nuapada, Jamuna Bai of Sukelpara of Khariar Road, Salu Sahu of Chadheidhar village of Jajpur.

Sources said the accident occurred when the Bhubaneswar-bound bus (OD-05-Y-4097) from Nuapada carrying 50 passengers hit the coal laden truck (OD-35-C-6566). The front portions of both the vehicles were fully damaged under the impact of the collision. The injured were sent to Athgarh hospital for treatment. While Ugrasen was sent to SCB Medical College and Hospital when his health becomes worsened, said Khuntuni police inspector in-charge Satyabrata Lenka. On being informed, police reached the spot and seized the vehicles.
