64 platoons of police for Durga puja security

Bhubaneswar: As many as 64 platoons of police force will be deployed by the Commissionerate Police during Durga puja celebrations in the twin city. The Commissionerate Police has decided to use 30 platoons for the Capital city while the remaining will be deployed in Silver city.

The puja committees have been issued with the licences from the single-window cells at the offices of the Deputy Commissioners of Police.

Commissionerate Police has taken special steps for smooth traffic movement during the festival. Police personnel both in uniform and in civil dress will be keeping strict vigil on gatherings around the puja pandals in order to thwart any nefarious activities by the anti-socials.

This apart, the Rapid Action Force and Special Commando units will be deployed at the pandals with gold and silver studded tableaus. Special police officers will be present at every pandal in the twin city.
Similarly, special arrangements will be made for Ravan Podi celebrations as well.

The Security and safety at the Ravan Podi venue will be checked by a team of police officials. The audience can watch the event 100 metres away from the spot where the Ravan Podi will take place.

The puja committees have been asked to take special care to prevent excessive noise pollution. All the committees have also been asked to install CCTVs at the pandals.
