Jaleswar: A local court sent a man to jail here in Balasore district Friday after he was produced in connection with a rape case.
Abhimanyu Ghose (65), accused of raping a minor girl at Kunarpur panchayat, was produced in a POCSO court.
Ghose had entered the house of the six-year-old victim and allegedly raped her while she was watching TV August 12. As the girl screamed, her parents working nearby came to her rescue and overpowered Ghose.
Some local people had tried to suppress the matter by exerting pressure on the parents of the girl. It delayed the matter landing in the police station.
Finally, the parents of the victim lodged a complaint with Raibania police. The police registered a case and medically examined the victim and the accused.
