Bolangir: Tusra police in Bolangir district nabbed seven members of an inter-state dacoit gang while the desperadoes were planning a dacoity at Deogaon late Sunday night.
The accused were identified as Tanuraj Mahananda alias Tanu, Banamali alias Sahil Tandi of Badasaimara in Muribahal, Pradyumna Bahidar alias Milu of Kantabanji, Harish Chandra Budek of Belpada, Kishore Chandra Bhoi of Karuanjhar under Tusra police limits, Parikhita Nag alias Chuti of Turekela and Jay Panda alias Rahu of Sagarpada in Bolangir.
A country made pistol, live bullets, four motorbikes, a scooter without registration number and sharp-edged weapon were seized from their possessions. A case was registered in this connection and the miscreants were produced in court after their arrest.
Sadar SDPO Khirasagar Nayak told reporters Monday the miscreants were arrested from Deogaon High School ground. Several cases were registered in the names of the accused in various police stations of Odisha, Telangana and Chhattisgarh. Some of the accused who were working as labour contractors in the past were transporting migrant labourers to work in brick kilns outside Odisha. Later, they are reported to have entered the crime world and formed a gang to commit dacoity in the neighbouring Nuapada district and in Telangana and Chhattisgarh.
The accused youths were planning a dacoity by assembling at the Deogaon High School ground at 1am Monday. A patrolling team of Tusra police raided the place and nabbed them on receipt of inputs.
