7 poachers held from Karlapat sanctuary

Bhawanipatna: Acting on a tip-off, a special team of Forest personnel arrested seven poachers late Thursday night from Karlapat Wildlife Sanctuary under South Forest Division in Kalahandi district on charge of poaching. The accused poachers were arrested after being caught red-handed while they were moving in the jungle with firearms and sharp-edged weapons.

The accused poachers were identified as Raidhar Majhi, Arakhita Majhi of Nakajhari village, Ganesh Dandasena, Abhi Majhi, Raiman Majhi, Muni Majhi and Lakshman Majhi of Kadopadar village. Seven guns, seven axes, and a deer horn were seized from their possession. A case was registered in this connection and the accused were produced in the court. Forest officials said that these poachers were earlier arrested on a charge of poaching but continued to hunt wild animals after their release on bail from jail.
