70-year old man killed over sorcery

Kashipur: Jijhuri Majhi, a 70-year old man, was hacked to death in Chandgiri village under Kashipur block in Rayagada district on the suspicion that he practiced sorcery. Based on a complaint lodged by his family, the police registered a case and seized an axe from the spot. Some villagers spotted the body lying in a pool of blood Friday evening and alerted his family. Jijhuri was killed by someone for his alleged practice of sorcery, the family said. A police team led by Rayagada SDPO Rajkishore Das began a probe.
