Dhenkanal: In view of increasing number of cases of COVID-19, Dhenkanal District Collector Bhumesh Chandra Behera declared Sunday total shutdown in Kamakhyanagar NAC from August 10 to 12. Out of the 29 fresh COVID-19 cases reported from the district Sunday, Kamakhyanagar NAC accounted for 19 cases. The shutdown will come into effect under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and the Epidemic Disease, Act 1897.
The district collector has asked the CDM & PHO, Dhenkanal/ block medical officer in-charge, Kamakhyanagar to mobilise the required number of health staff immediately to conduct active surveillance in the NAC. The surveillance will continue from August 10 till 12. The CDM & PHO, Dhenkanal has been asked to submit day-wise status reports to the collector.
Of the 29 fresh cases of COVID-19 in Dhenkanal, 24 were from home quarantine, two from institutional quarantine and the remaining three were local cases. Other than Kamakhyanagar NAC, the other fresh infections were from are Kamakhyanagar Block (six), Bhuban NAC (two) Parjang and Odapada Block (one each).
So far 558 people have been hit by the virus in Dhenkanal district. Out of them, 341 patients have recovered and have been discharged from hospital. There are currently 216 active cases undergoing treatment while one person has died. The district reported 24 fresh recoveries Sunday.
