Bhubaneswar: At least eight shops were completely gutted after a major fire broke out at around 10.30 am Sunday at a vending zone near Madhusudan Park of Pokhariput locality in Bhubaneswar.
Exact cause of the fire mishap has not been ascertained yet. However, short circuit could be a probable reason behind the spark leading to the mishap, some vendors stated.
The blaze could have spread from a shop which was close to a dumping bin that had been placed near the vending zone. Around 12 shops were located in the vending zone including fruits, vegetable and grocery items. No loss of life has been reported in the incident as the shops were closed due to lockdown, the vendors expressed.

On being informed by locals, a team of fire personnel rushed to the spot. Fire personnel engaged at the mishap site had been trying to douse the flames, till writing of this report. Loss of properties could exceed lakhs of rupees, a member of the fire-fighters said.
