Bhubaneswar: After a little relief, heatwave condition again returned to the state with mercury soaring above 40 degree Celsius at nine places.
According to local Met office sources, Titlagarh was the hottest place with 44 degrees, while it was 43.4 degrees at Sonepur, 42.6 degrees at Bolangir, 41.6 degrees at Malkangiri, 41.3 degrees at Sambalpur, 41.2 degrees at Bhawanipatna, 41.1 degrees at Talcher, 40.6 degrees at Jharsuguda and 40.1 degrees at Hirakud.
The Met office has predicted that in spite of rain and thundershower in some parts of the state, there would be no drastic change in the weather conditions till May 31 as the state is most likely to experience pre-monsoon showers from June 1.
Meanwhile, the Bhubaneswar meteorological centre has issued thunderstorm alert for eleven districts in next 24 hours.
