93 gamblers held during 2-day raids

Berhampur: Ganjam police busted several gambling dens late Saturday and early Sunday. A total of 14 cases were registered and 93 gamblers arrested.

Briefing media, Additional SP Prasant Kumar Mishra Sunday said police seized Rs 4.24 lakhs, 24 mobile phones and four motorcycles from these dens.

Two cases were registered under Berhampur Town Police limits where 22 people were arrested and Rs 52,520 was seized. Two cases were registered in Badbazar police station where 26 people were arrested and Rs1,21,765 and 16 mobile phones were seized.

G Nuagaon police busted a gambling den and arrested 10 people and seized Rs 70,670 and eight mobile phones and four motorcycles. Similarly, two cases were registered at Golanthara PS where eight arrests were made and Rs 21,200 seized.

Three cases were filed at K Nuagaon PS where nine arrests were made and Rs 18,260 seized. Three cases were filed at Digapahandi PS where 15 arrests were made and Rs 38,100 seized. One case was filed at Jarada PS where three arrests were made and Rs1,01,700 seized. Mishra said the accused were forwarded to court Sunday.
