Cuttack, Feb 3: Prasant Thakkar’s (7/20) brilliant show with the bowl helped Sambalpur beat Paradeep by 40 runs in a tie of the U-19 Inter District Cricket Tournament at the Raveshaw Ground-II here Tuesday.
Electing to bat first, Sambalpur batsmen struggled against Paradeep bowlers as they were all out for 107 in 36.4 overs in the first innings. Gourav Routray (4/29) was the wrecker-in-chief for the Paradeep.
However, Routray’s effort went in vain when Paradeep batters surrendered cheaply at 67 in 23 overs to Prasant and Gurprit Singh (3/21) of Sambalpur.
In another one-sided match at the Ravenshaw Ground-1, Bhadrak defeated Boudh by 221 runs. Put into bat, riding Bhadrak scored 343 runs in 50 overs, riding on Kshyama Sagar Bal’s (84) and Surendra Panda (49) superb effort with the bat. In reply, Boudh could score only 122 runs in 21 overs.
