Namrata Das, popularly known as Dolly Apa, is a veteran Oriya actor. In 40 years of her acting career, she has carved a niche for playing the character of doting mother in many movies and mega soap operas. She does the typical middle class mother with ease. She is currently portraying the character of Rukmani in the daily soap Tara Tarini aired on Tarang channel. She loves to be with her family Sundays.
Donning chef’s role
Dolly Apa is a good cook who tries her hand at different non-veg dishes. “Due to hectic shooting schedules, I hardly cook. But whenever I get time, I prepare favourite dishes for everyone in the family. I love to rush up traditional chicken curry, my favourite dish and serve it hot to others,” she maintains.
No Rest Day
Sundays for Dolly Apa are meant for doing pending household chores. “I love to finish my pending household work Sundays. Actors in the industry do not get off every Sunday. Second Sunday is the only day when we get to take off. Hence, I keep all my pending works for this day. My first task is washing clothes of everyone in the family,” she says.
Ardent devotee
An ardent devotee of Lord Jagannath, Namrata makes it a point to pay obeisance at Puri temple. “Visiting Jagannath temple is a must for me on almost all Sundays. Whatever I am today it is because of Him”, she says.
