Cuttack, Feb 8: Orissa eves will meet their old nemesis Manipur in the final of the women’s football event of the National Games at Thrissur, Tuesday.
In the semifinal played Sunday, Orissa thrashed Haryana 3-0. Menaka Malik scored a brace while Lochana Munda hit the target once to script an emphatic victory for Orissa.
“We played according to our strategy and executed it well. So we could beat Haryana comprehensively,” stated coach Shradhanjali Samantray. “We have a rest day before the final. We can use the time for preparing well against Manipur, who are a formidable unit. If we will play to our potential, then we can win the gold medal,” she added.
