Bhubaneswar: Chinmay Pradhan of Odisha advanced into the semifinals while his statemate Asutosh Das crashed out of the Gurukul AITA-OTA 50k men’s ranking tennis tournament here at the Gurukul tennis complex, Wednesday.
It was also a good day for the doubles players as all the three pairs from the state entered the last four stage registering comprehensive victories against their respective opponents.
Chinmay had a pretty easy outing as he thrashed Manoj Kumar Sewa of West Bengal 6-2, 6-3 in straight sets. Asutosh however lost tamely to Yugantar Vyas of Gujarat 4-6, 0-6.
In the doubles, the pair of Aditya Satpathy and Swostik Pradhan defeated Rohit Rampuria of West Bengal and Varun Tiwari of Chhattisgarh 4-6, 6-4, 10-5.
In the doubles Asutosh Das and Satirtha Patnaik defeated Arjun Mahadevan and Bharath Parthasarathy of Tamil Nadu 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 while Abhishek Mohapatra and Amrutjay Mohanty got the better of Mohan K Arunachala of Tamil Nadu and Kaushik Kulkarni of West Benagl 6-1, 6-2
