Bhubaneswar: Food supplies and consumer welfare minister Surya Narayan Patro Wednesday said as many as 420 petrol bunks and 29 gas agencies were raided in recent years over various irregularities.
The raids have been conducted by the legal metrology wing of the FSCW department, he said in his reply in Odisha assembly this day.
The minister said Odisha has 1976 weighbridges and 219 weighbridges have also been raided over fraud in weighing and measuring.
The minister said last year 1, 37, 079 consumer cases have been registered of which 1.19 lakh cases have been disposed of.
On food security and covering of eligible beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act, the minister said that the government opened 374 ration card management centres across the state to provide ration cards to the eligible left out beneficiaries
He also said that computerized lists of all PDS beneficiaries in the state have been prepared and has been placed in the public domain of FSCW department.
To streamline public distribution system in the state, he said the computerization of195 departmental storage centres have been accomplished.
This apart, he said, electronic points of sale (e-POS) machines have been provided to 12,577 fair price shops in the state for distribution of PDS commodities to the beneficiaries in the state.
The central grievance redressal cell has been connected with the all India toll-free PDS helpline number ‘1967’ for instant ventilation of grievance of beneficiaries, Patro added.
