Bolangir: Panic gripped the residents of Rengali village in Bolangir after posters threatening to blow up the Belpada police station surfaced in several parts of the town here, Friday.
Locals suspect the posters were put up by the outlawed Maoists, who have threatened to blow up the PS within a month. Earlier, similar posters had been recovered from the region.
Though no Maoist division has claimed to have put up the poster, the hand-written note in Odia has created a flutter in the region. In the poster, the ultras have opposed the Gudkamal police encounter and threatened to kill all the police informers in the area.
The posters condemned the police firing in which seven Maoists were killed in Bolangir and Kandhamal districts of the state a couple of weeks back.
In another incident, Bolangir-Bargarh Mahasumand (BBM) division of the red rebels condemned the arrest of their leader Manoj Madkami. According to sources, the ultras have released an audio-tape in which they have termed Madkami’s arrest illegal.
Moreover, the secretary of the Maoist division, Basant Kumar, has threatened action against Nuapada Superintendent of Police (SP) as the Nuapada police had arrested Madkami and his supporter May 30. Meanwhile, senior police officials could not be contacted for comments.
