Bhubaneswar: Members of state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mahila Morcha Saturday met Governor Ganeshi Lal and submitted a memorandum seeking his intervention to check the rising cases of violence against women in the state.
A delegation of the BJP women’s wing, led by its president Pravati Parida, said the state government has failed to check the rising crimes against women, especially rape of minor girls.
“The Chief Minister himself has admitted this on the floor of Assembly. But no action has yet been taken by the government to stop the heinous crimes,” Parida said.
She lambasted the state government for allegedly failing to implement the Vishakha guidelines, a Supreme Court ruling aimed at preventing sexual harassment of women.
Stating that the recent Paree Rath campaign by the state government was an eyewash, Parida demanded that immediate steps be taken to curb the growing atrocities against women and children.
