Nuapada: An abandoned newborn girl was found near a village pond at Kurumpuri Daldali village in this district Thursday morning.
According to reports, some local people, who were working at their farmlands near the pond, rescued the baby after hearing her cries.
The girl, who has been handed over to the Childline officials, was later admitted to the Nuapada district hospital. She is believed to be two to three days old. The condition of the baby is stated to be stable.
The local police have started a probe into the matter.
