Puri: The district administration Thursday conducted a mock drill for rescuing people in case of possible mishaps during the upcoming Rath Yatra.
Participating in the mock drill, officials of the Health department and personnel from Orissa Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), fire brigade, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Odisha police exhibited their skills in rescuing people in cases of road accidents, fire and drowning.
The mock drill was keenly observed by Revenue Divisional Commissioner (central) DV Swamy, Collector Aravind Agarwal and superintendent of police Sarthak Sarangi. The officials stressed on quick rescue of mishap victims and adequate security for devotees during the mega event.
“We have opened an integrated control room at the Town police station to deal with possible mishaps. Officials of various departments will be present at the control room to guide the field level personnel during the rescue operation. All close circuit television cameras installed in the city have been made functional to boost security system,” Sarangi said.
