Bhubaneswar: The Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan Saturday dedicated a new railway station at Baranga, about 14 km from the existing station at Master canteen, to the people of the capital city.
Three passenger trains — Howrah-Puri-Santragachhi, Rourkela-Puri-Rourkela and Cuttack-Brahmapur-Cuttack MEMU — will run from the new station from Saturday on an experimental basis for six months.
As per the schedule, the Howrah-Puri Passenger (58001) will arrive at Bhubaneswar New Station at 10:56 hrs and leave at 10:57hrs.
The Puri-Santragachhi Passenger (58002) will arrive in Bhubaneswar at 11:41hrs, leaving at 11:42hrs.
The Rourkela-Puri Passenger (58131) will reach Bhubaneswar at 20:32hrs and leave at 2033hrs.
In the return direction, the Puri-Rourkela Passenger (58132) will arrive Bhubaneswar at 06:43hrs and leave at 06:44hrs.
The Cuttack-Brahmapur MEMU (68433) is scheduled to arrive in Bhubaneswar at 17:53hrs, leaving at 17:54hrs. In the return direction, the Brahmapur-Cuttack MEMU (68434)will reach the capital city at 10:35hrs and leave at 10:36hrs.
The timings and stops for these trains at other nominated places will remain unchanged.
The new station, constructed at a cost of Rs 28 crore, has all basic amenities and facilities for passengers.
Though the construction work for the station started in 2012, its completion has been delayed for almost three years due to several reasons.
A mobile app for Puri Rath Yatra, MEMU shed at Khurda Road Station, new foot over bridge at Bhubaneswar station have also been inaugurated Saturday.
The mobile app for Puri Rath Yatra has features including information on tickets, catering, complaint management, the option to book retiring rooms and dormitories.
The Rs 4 crore foot overbridge at Bhubaneswar station has been completed in a record period of 150 days. This is the third such bridge at Bhubaneswar station.
