Muniguda: CRPF jawans of the 8th battalion Thursday came forward to repair a road with the works department and the railways failing to pay heed to the problem.
According to reports, a few large-size craters had developed, due to lack of maintenance, near railway gate at Tinikonia Chhak of this block in Rayagada district. Driving on the stretch gave a nightmarish experience to commuters.
When raised the issue with the junior engineer, he said the road comes under the jurisdiction of the railways and they would maintain it. On the other hand, the rail authorities never bothered to look into the matter.
The jawans took note of the problem and leveled the road filling it up with stones, pebbles, sand and cement. Vehicles are now moving smoothly on the stretch, said some locals.
Apart from the conscious citizens, several local outfits including Muniguda Vikash Parishad, citizens’ forum and press club appreciated the move of the jawans.
