Udala: Unidentified miscreants looted cash worth lakhs of rupees from the ‘hundi’ (donation box) of the Astasambhu temple located in Ward No. 8 under Udala police limits in Mayurbhanj district Sunday night.
The matter came light when the priest found the lock of the main gate broken. He also found that the ‘hundi’ was vandalised and the money missing from the donation box.
After being informed, police along with temple committee members rushed to the spot. Police is investigating into the matter.
However, the exact amount of money looted by the burglars is yet to be assessed.
They committee members informed that the box had not been opened for last two and a half years.
