Thiruvananthapuram: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor Monday said “vandals” from the Bharatiya Janata Party’s youth wing attacked his Thiruvanantha- puram office, and threatened to kill him.
Tharoor, who is the member of Lok Sabha from Thiruvanantha-puram, tweeted that the “Yuva Morcha” members asked him to go to Pakistan, and “drove away innocent citizens waiting with their petitions.” He later said they threatened to shut down his MP office.
Congress workers carried out a protest march against the alleged attack in Thiruvananthapuram. Protesters raised slogans against the BJP, burned Modi’s effigy.
Last week, the Congressman came under fire for warning that a repeat of the BJP’s victory in the 2014 general election would pave the way for the creation of a “Hindu Pakistan”. Victory in 2019, he said, would give Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s party “all the elements they need to tear apart the Constitution of India and write a new one”.
