Sambalpur: Ainthapali police busted a sex racket operating from a house in Shakti Nagar area here Friday.
Seven persons including the house owner were arrested and five women engaged in flesh trade were rescued.
The police team seized three motorbikes, mobile phones, Rs 10,000 and many objectionable items from the house.
The house owner was running the racket for some months. The agents had set up a WhatsApp group and lured customers through the social media. The sex workers were mostly from other states.
After getting information, the police kept a close watch on the house and on the movements of customers and sex workers.
Later, a sudden raid was conducted by a police team Friday when four youths and three women were found in compromising positions.
The detainees are being questioned at the police station and investigation into the racket is underway.
Another case of sex trade was busted in the district headquarters after a surprise raid on a hotel on VSS Marg May 22.
A police team had rescued sex workers from West Bengal and arrested three persons from a hotel in Jharsuguda last month.
Earlier, the comissionerate police had busted a sex racket operating from a hair salon and spa near Keshari Talkies in Bhubaneswar. In May, the police had busted a sex racket functioning from a spa in Bapuji Nagar and rescued some Thai sex workers who were sent back to their country by the police.
